I have provided counselling and consultation to individuals, families, communities, universities and organizations for over 20 years. I have worked in private practice since 1998.

These direct services have included not only personal counselling, but have also involved training social workers in not-for-profit-organizations, providing clinical supervision to front line counsellors, and working with both public and private schools.

In my clinical practice, I am committed to providing a confidential, non-judgmental, safe atmosphere where my clients are supported to generate lasting change in their lives. My therapeutic approach may best be described as practical and proactive (forward moving). The methods of counselling that I favour are solution-oriented, narrative and client-centered, respecting the uniqueness of each person by providing an individualized approach.

I ensure a non-discriminatory service, respecting and being sensitive to race, culture, ethnicity, gender, age, abilities, religion and sexual orientation.

Related Experience

I have provided workshops for parent organizations, sat on community advisory committees, and consulted to the CBC.

I work part-time at Ryerson University in the School of Social Work where, since 1992, I have taught practice-related subjects to students in the Bachelor of Social Work program. My teaching helps keep me up to date and current in theoretical and practice perspectives, which in return encourages a “walking the talk” that benefits both my students and my clinical practice.

I am passionate and committed to sharing my experience and knowledge. Through Ryerson University, I am currently involved in an international development project in the Dominican Republic where I teach social work practice courses to front line social workers and university professors.
